4th of July Themed Activities for the Elementary Computer Lab

Here are a few 4th of July themed activities for the elementary computer lab to keep your students working on technology skills in the computer lab during the 4th of July holiday.

We did a whole series of guides for holiday themed computer lab activities this year. Check out our holiday activity posts tagged Monthly and Holiday Themes!

My 4th of July Activities

Independence Day Digital Pixel Art STEM Challenges

This resource works on so many great technology skills. While students may be familiar with using snap cubes (or counting blocks or whatever you call them) to make designs, it brings the skill to a whole new level to do it digitally. 10 4th of July designs in 4 different levels for differentiation between grade levels k-5.

Digital Sheets/Excel Mystery Pictures | Independence Day Theme

Students are going to love discovering what Independence Day themed design is hidden in the spreadsheet software mystery picture and you’ll love that they are practicing so many different skills. While students may be familiar with paper and pencil mystery pictures, it takes it to a whole new level to do it digitally. Students will really master the toolbar in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.

Digital Hundreds Chart Mystery Pictures | Independence Day Theme

Students are going to love discovering what Independence Day themed design is hidden in the hundreds chart mystery picture and you’ll love that they are practicing so many different skills. While students may be familiar with paper and pencil hundreds charts, it takes it to a whole new level to do it digitally. Students will really master the toolbar in whatever program you use.

I also have several holiday bundles that will keep your students engaged in technology tasks throughout a wide variety of celebrations. My Holiday Text Formatting Activities, Digital CVC Build and Type Secret Picture Tiles Holidays Bundle, and UNPLUGGED Coding in Social Studies – Holidays all include projects appropriate for celebrating the 4th of July.

Bonus! Middle/High School Activity Ideas

Replicate a Patriotic Song

Have students compose their own versions of an American-themed composition. Use Incredibox, Soundtrap, BeepBox or Song Maker in Chrome Music Lab . They can choose from classics like The Star-Spangled Banner or Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever march, as well as modern songs like Miley Cyrus’ Party in the USA.

American Trivia

Take this 4th of July Trivia Kahoot or this State Flags quiz to test your students knowledge of America.

I hope these 4th of July themed activities for the elementary computer lab help your students ring in Independence Day with a bang!
