Valentine’s Day Tech Skills Activities for All Grades
The Virtual Valentines Project is an easy, free project designed to teach students geographical awareness and cultural understanding while connecting classrooms all around the world for Valentine’s Day. Whether your students are in kindergarten or are seniors in high school, this project will help them learn something new.
- Level 1 will give your students the ability to create a Virtual Valentine, share with others, and see work from students around the world.
- Level 2 is for teachers who want to give a more in depth cultural connection to their students and will involve a live virtual conference call (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet) or Flipgrid message exchange with a partner class where students will get to meet friends in a different part of the world.
There’s something for everyone on Tynker this Valentine’s Day – with our three fun coding projects (ranging from beginner to advanced coding levels), kids can code a game to find a hidden candy heart, animate a candy dispenser to spread the love, and customize a valentine with jokes and art. As they follow the guided tutorials to code their projects, kids will learn to add music, program different backgrounds, use physics, set conditions, create visual effects, and more!

Primary Valentine’s Day Activities
While your students create a digital Valentine’s Day greeting they will also work on spoken language, words, and spelling. Meanwhile, the Valentine’s edition of their Math Journey teaches basic number concepts in a heart covered landscape.
The games are a mix of academic content and tech skills, making them perfect practice for our youngest students.
Middle Elementary Valentine’s Day Activities
A simple application which lets you fill a heart shape with words. Students can experiment with word orientation options, vary the word colors and fonts, and save their images. They can also use small symbols like hearts, happy faces etc., in their list of words.
In this online tool, elementary students can write poems based on shapes. By selecting a shape, students learn how to focus their writing on a particular topic or theme. As part of the online tool, students are prompted to brainstorm, write, and revise their poems, thus reinforcing elements of the writing process. Students can save their draft poems to revise later. The finished theme poems can also be printed and colored to display in the classroom or at home. When selecting a theme, direct your students to click on the Celebrations folder to find a heart theme.
Upper Elementary Valentine’s Day Activities
Make a Valentine Video
Animoto has a guide to help you make your own heartfelt video valentine. It includes popular valentine video templates, recommended color palettes, tips for finding imagery for your video, and even suggestions on what to say to your valentine.
Students work on various language skills while they learn about the history and traditions surrounding Valentine’s Day in the first few pages. The remaining slides allow them to participate in some fun Valentine’s themed superstitions.
This program will mold the text from your poem into the shape of a heart. Students can practice typing skills by copying a silly love poem or compose one of their own.

Try this free Valentine’s Day Escape Room. In this free Valentine’s Day virtual escape room, you have to deliver valentines to your friends. The last valentine that you will deliver is for a family member, but you can’t remember the code to get in your house!
Explore Heart Anatomy
The Pocket Heart app for iOS lets users visualize, hear and understand how the human heart works, in 3D. Anatomical structures in each layer are pinned for identification and associated with each pin is additional concise relevant information including clinical notes. Your students can also take a look at the American Heart Association’s interactive cardiovascular library. You’ll find informative illustrations and animations about a variety of conditions, treatments and procedures related to heart disease and stroke.
I hope these Valentine’s Day themed activities for the elementary computer lab develop your students’ love for technology!
