Avatar Character digital glyph and digital animation projects in one bundle. You can use both projects with the same students or have students do the digital glyph the first year and then the digital animation the next year. Ideal for computer lab teachers or upper elementary classroom teachers.
1. Plan on how to show the instructional video to your students (or plan a mini lesson demo yourself)
2. Plan how students will save their final Avatar. In the video I used the snipping tool that comes with a window’s device, but your setup may be different. You will need to show students what you want them to do.
3. Plan how you want to share the file with your students. I’m providing the Google Slides file link but you can also use this as a PowerPoint file. Using Google Classroom makes it really easy, but any learning management system can be used to send the file to students.

- Stop Motion is typically done with physical objects and a camera. This project is a little bit different.
- Instead of getting out all of those materials, we are going to do it digitally.
- Using Google Slides, students will animate a story across multiple slides. The 3 prompts are editable so it can be made more (or less) complicated to meet your needs.
- Students can do this with a single device or in groups across 3-5 devices.
- The backgrounds and graphics are provided for students, and they can add their own if needed.
- Innovative Designer: 4d – Students exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and the capacity to work with open-ended problems.
- Creative Communicator: 6b – Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations. 6d – Students publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences.
- Global Collaborator: 7c – Students contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a common goal. (if done in pairs or small groups)
