Description

Typing paragraphs makes great keyboarding practice for upper elementary and middle school students. This is a set of 15 slides, each containing a digital citizenship themed paragraph for students to type. Any device that can access Google Slides or PowerPoint can be used to complete these digital interactive activities.

Teacher Prep:
1. With the file in edit mode, students type the paragraph they see on the screen. There are 15 slides for them to go through.
2. You may want to separate this into multiple sessions. To do this, make a copy of the entire file and then take out the slides you don’t want.
3. Plan how you want to share the file with your students. I’m providing the Google Slides file link (on page 3) but you can also use this as a PowerPoint file. Using Google Classroom makes it really easy, but any learning management system can be used to send the file to students.

What teachers said on TPT

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 39 teachers on Teachers Pay Teachers.

“I just started teaching a computer science class this year. One of the main things I really want my students to learn is how to properly type. Along with the use of a typing program I used these slides (1 a week) for my students to time their typing abilities. This helped show the progress they made throughout the first few months of our class.”

— Jessica S., TPT review

“My after school typing club student enjoying working on these as they learn to practice keeping their hands on the home row keys. They are slowly getting more comfortable with focusing on the screen and less on the keyboard as they type.”

— Dawn D, TPT review

“I have been looking for something like this for a while. My students need practice in typing and this was great to use. I also really enjoyed the topics as well as the students. Thank you for this!”
