Description

Get Ready to Level Up Your Computer Parts Unit with Tech Dominoes! If you’re looking for a fun and interactive way to reinforce your students’ tech knowledge, look no further. Introducing Tech Dominoes – the game that makes learning technology terms a blast! With printable paper domino cards, you can turn any class into an exciting tech adventure.

Teacher Directions:
The objective of this game is to reinforce students’ understanding of various technology-related terms. It’s a fun way to review vocabulary!

Materials Needed:
Printable Technology Domino Cards (one set per group)

Rules & Setup:
Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students. Each group will be given a set of technology dominoes. The goal is to match the correct pairs of terms by placing the cards in a line, similar to traditional dominoes.

Playing the Game:
Have each group choose a starting card and place it in the center. The first player to correctly identify a matching term/picture will go first. On each turn, the player must make a match with a term/picture already on the table. During the game, encourage students to discuss the terms with their peers if they are unsure. To add an extra element of challenge, have students explain each term and what it does. The game ends after a predetermined time or after all of the cards have been placed.

After the game, take some time to review the terms and concepts covered. Use this as an opportunity to reinforce learning and address any questions that may have arisen during the game.

ISTE Standards Addressed:
  1. Empowered Learner (1a, 1d): This activity promotes students’ understanding of technology-related terms, empowering them to take control of their learning and explore technology concepts independently.
  2. Digital Citizen (2c): By discussing technology terms with their peers and explaining them, students learn how to use technology responsibly and ethically, respecting others’ ideas and knowledge.
  3. Knowledge Constructor (3d): “Technology Dominoes” encourages students to construct knowledge by matching technology terms and concepts and explaining their meaning and function.
  4. Innovative Designer (4a, 4b): Students engage in critical thinking as they strategize to match the correct pairs of terms, which involves recognizing and applying technology vocabulary.
  5. Creative Communicator (6b): During the game, students must communicate effectively with their peers, both in terms of finding matching terms and explaining the meaning of terms.
