Teachers looking to integrate technology skills and content areas will love this review of PowerPoint/Google Slides skills for students with the topic of Technology Careers. The goal of this activity is for students to put their facts into a Presentation template (using either Google Slides or PowerPoint) and make it look professional while also learning about the requirements for some popular technology careers.

Students should already be familiar with the presentation program (either Google Slides or PowerPoint) that you want them to use. Otherwise, plan a demo of the skills they will need because this resource doesn’t include it.

The template guides students to:
  • Answer questions about the career using the posters provided and type the answers into the presentation template
  • Insert clip art
  • Edit text boxes
  • Change the design including theme, transitions, and animations
  • If time permits, present to the class

The note taking graphic organizer and presentation template is editable if you need to change the requirements for your students.

The teacher guide file includes a rubric that you can use to grade their presentation for both the tech skills and the delivered presentation if you have them perform it for the class.

The Tech Careers Guided Research Project is a digital downloadable product designed for students in grades 4-6. This project is a great way to introduce students to the world of technology careers and help them develop their research and presentation skills.

The project includes a presentation template for each student to fill in with information they have gathered during their research. The template includes prompts and questions to guide their research and ensure they cover all important aspects of their assigned tech career. The presentation template also provides a framework for students to design their presentation with fonts, graphics, transitions, and animations.

The project comes with a set of facts about different tech careers to use as a starting point for research. These facts are a great way to introduce students to different tech careers and help them decide which career they would like to research further.

The Tech Careers Guided Research Project also includes a grading rubric to assess the quality of the students’ presentations. The grading rubric assesses the accuracy of the information, creativity of the presentation design, clarity of the presentation, and overall quality of the project.

This project is a great way to introduce students to the world of technology careers and help them develop important research and presentation skills. It is also a great way to meet the ISTE standards of Knowledge Constructor and Creative Communicator. The project can be used in the classroom or for remote learning, and it is a great way to engage students in learning about technology careers.
